Opening Doors Fairfield County (ODFC) is committed to ensuring everyone in Fairfield County has access to housing that supports the conditions for them and the community to thrive.
ODFC is responsible for homelessness response within the Fairfield County Coordinated Access Network (CAN), one of seven regional CANs originally established by Connecticut Department of Housing and partner groups to manage homelessness response at the regional level.
ODFC is one of two Continuum of Care (CoC) Programs within the State of CT designed to promote community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness by providing funding for efforts by nonprofit providers and State and local governments and promoting access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families.
ODFC operates through a framework known as collective impact, where multiple organizations from different sectors collaborate to solve complex problems. We work from a common agenda, use shared metrics and measurements, ensure coordinated action and communication, and rely on dedicated backbone support staff from the Housing Collective to advance housing accessibility at the system-level.
